When you need to alter the rectangular shape of a wall, use the Edit Profile tool. When editing the profile of a wall, sketch mode is enabled and you can alter the shape or make openings in the rectangular shape of the default wall. The Edit Profile tool only works on straight wall segments. If the wall is curved in a plan view, the Edit Profile button is inactive and can’t be selected.
If you need to make a rectangular opening in a curved wall, use the Wall Opening tool. This tool allows you to select a wall and then use 2 clicks to create a rectangular opening. After the opening is placed, use the shape handles to alter the size and position of the opening.
If you need to make a non-rectangular shape or opening in a curved wall, use an in-place family void to cut the shape out of the wall.
- Use the Cut Geometry tool to cut the void geometry from the wall geometry, and then Finish the in-place model.
